“If you give money to a national charity there is a filter… and some of that money just doesn’t land in your community. Working with Father Joe’s Villages, I know that all of the treasure that I am able to give is directly working in my community.”

What items do Father Joe's Villages not take?

Unfortunately, whenever we receive an item that cannot be sold in our stores or recycled, we incur a cost for disposal. This means less funds go towards helping our neighbors in need.

Please only donate items that are in gently-used, new condition or “usable”. We cannot accept furniture or items that are broken, torn or severely damaged. Unusable items are any items that are stained, broken, torn, cracked, peeling, worn, etc. We do not accept anything that needs to be repaired or refinished.

At this time, we do not accept wooden desks, tires, chemicals and CRT TVs.

What happens after I submit the pick-up request form?

One of Father Joe’s Villages friendly, trained operators will call to schedule a mutually convenient time to pick up your donation.

What should I know before I speak to an operator?

We truly appreciate everyone who donates to Father Joe’s Villages. 100% of the revenue from the sale of donated goods goes towards positively impacting the lives of thousands of men, women and children in San Diego.

Our operators are all located right here in San Diego. They will call you during regular business hours to schedule a pick-up from a 619-446-XXXX phone number. The operator will work with you to schedule your donation pick up as soon as our schedule allows.

We are only able to pick up donations from the ground floor. If you live above the ground floor, all donations must be moved to the ground floor before pick-up. We know this isn’t always convenient, but our drivers are not qualified movers. For safety reasons we only pick up from the first floor.

We cannot accept broken, torn or other heavily used items. Since we are unable to sell these items we have to throw them away. Like all businesses, we have to pay a fee to dispose of any trash that goes in our dumpsters.

Why can’t the donation pick-up drivers move my donations if I am not on the first floor?

For safety reasons, we only accept donations that can be picked-up from first floor apartments or homes. We know this isn’t always convenient, but our drivers are not qualified movers. If you live above the ground floor, all donations must be moved to the ground floor before pick up.

What days and times do you pick up donations?

The day and time of your donation pick-up depends on the route in your area. We accept donations from all over San Diego and visit each neighborhood based on demand.

We schedule pick-ups between 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Unfortunately, we cannot schedule a specific pick-up time.

Our driver can call you 30 minutes ahead of time to let you know we are on our way or you can leave the donations out and we will pick them up. If you’d like the driver to call ahead, please let the operator know when they call.

When our operator calls you to schedule a time to pick-up your donations, she will work with you to find a date that is convenient for you.

Do you offer free pick-up services?

Yes, our donation pick-up services are free. If you are able, we are happy to accept cash donations to cover the cost of gas. Our drivers carry donation envelopes.

Will you let me know when you are on your way?

The driver can call you when they are 30 minutes away from the pick-up location. When scheduling your donation pick-up, please specify that you would like the driver to call ahead.

Do I have to be home when the driver arrives?

You do not have to be at home during pick-up. You may leave your donations outside.
